Rechargeable red laser pointer in aluminium with safety keys
The R1 Pro is the red laser pointer for people whose laser is part of their working day. Lecturers who teach four sessions in a row, trainers on the road, guides in a museum or a cathedral: for them, a pen on AAA batteries that runs flat at the wrong moment is a nuisance. The R1 Pro solves that with a rechargeable 18650 lithium-ion cell and a charger in the box.
It is a Starlight Lasers model in aluminium with two safety keys, so you can lock it in a lectern drawer or a shared office. The output is up to 1 mW, laser class 2 – the class intended for sale to the public in the UK – and every unit is measured before dispatch.
Red is the traditional presentation colour for good reason: it stands out on a projector screen without overpowering the slide, and it is comfortable for the audience. Charge the 18650 battery before first use in the supplied PowerFox charger; it charges the battery outside the laser. With normal use a charge lasts at least about a month. Keep a second battery charged in your bag and you will never be caught out: an extra PowerFox 18650 2-pack fits the R1 Pro, and a second PowerFox charger charges from a laptop. Remove the safety key when you store the laser.
The R2 Pro is the compact rechargeable version without key lock. The M1 is the simple red laser pen on AAA batteries. All red options are on red laser pointers.
Use the safety keys, especially in schools. Never aim the laser at eyes, people, animals' eyes, vehicles or aircraft, and be careful with mirrors, glass and water that can reflect the beam. Keep it out of reach of children – it is a tool, not a toy, and you must be 18 or over to order. Shining a laser at a vehicle or aircraft is a criminal offence in the UK.
