The classic red laser pen for presentations, 650 nm
Ask someone to picture a laser pointer and they will probably picture this: a slim pen with a red dot dancing over a slide. The M1 is exactly that, done well. Its 650 nm red dot is crisp and calm on a projector screen, easy for the audience to follow and never harsh in a small meeting room. Clip it in your shirt pocket, take it out when you need to point, and put it away again.
The M1 is a Starlight Lasers pen with an output up to 1 mW, laser class 2 – the class intended for sale to the public in the UK. Every unit is measured before dispatch. Two powerful AAA batteries are included, so you can use it the moment you open the parcel.
Indicative: depends on the light, the weather and the surface.

The M1 runs on two AAA batteries. With normal use a set lasts at least about a month, depending on how much you point. For a laser you use in meetings or lessons a few times a week this is the easiest option: no charger, and replacements from any supermarket. Using it all day, every day? The rechargeable R1 Pro or R2 Pro may suit you better.
Red is ideal indoors. If you mainly present in large halls, or you also want to point at things outside, the X1 green laser pen is the brighter alternative in the same pen format. Our article red vs green laser pointer explains the difference. Want both? The laser pen set includes the M1, X1 and Z1.
Class 2 means your blink reflex protects the eye against a brief accidental exposure, not that it is safe to look into the beam. Never aim the laser at eyes, people, animals' eyes, vehicles or aircraft, and be careful with mirrors, glass and water that can reflect the beam. Keep it out of reach of children – it is a tool, not a toy, and you must be 18 or over to order. Shining a laser at a vehicle or aircraft is a criminal offence in the UK. Read laser pointer safety before first use.
