X2 green laser pen: a pointer with a playful side

The X2 is our green laser pen for people who want a bit more than a dot. Out of the box it is a slim pen laser pointer with a bright 532 nm green dot. Put the pattern cap on the front and the X2 projects shapes and figures onto a wall or ceiling; turn the cap to switch between about 3 patterns. It is a small thing, but it turns a practical tool into a fun extra for a party, a themed evening or a classroom demonstration led by the teacher.

Like every laser in our shop, the X2 is a Starlight Lasers model with an output up to 1 mW, laser class 2. It has an aluminium body with a pocket clip and runs on two powerful AAA batteries, which are included.

Batteries and care

Two AAA batteries power the X2. With normal use a set lasts at least about a month, depending on how much you point. Keep the pattern cap in a pocket or bag when you are not using it so it does not get lost or scratched, and wipe the lens with a soft cloth if the dot or pattern looks blurred. Remove the batteries if the laser will be in a drawer for months.

Safety

Class 2 means the blink reflex protects your eye against a brief, accidental exposure – it does not make staring into the beam safe. Never aim the laser at eyes, people, animals' eyes, vehicles or aircraft, and watch out for mirrors, windows and water that can reflect the beam. Keep it away from children: this is a tool, not a toy, and you must be 18 or over to order. Shining a laser at a vehicle or aircraft is a criminal offence in the UK.
